Children need unstructured time in nature to immerse themselves in play. At Unity School, we offer outdoor summer activities
in which our vast play yard becomes the classroom. We spend nearly all of our time exploring outside, interacting with mixed-aged groups as
children from all of the classrooms play together in the yard throughout the day. We bring the classroom outside, providing sensory,
dramatic play, science and art activities in our large, shaded play yard. We also furnish toys and props that promote large motor movement
and cooperative play. We take field trips and do lots of gardening, too! We celebrate the beginning and end of summer with a family picnic and an ice cream social.
We offer swimming lessons (at an additional cost) during the summer at Tamarak Wellness Center, which features a 92-degree saltwater therapeutic pool.
We offer three two-week-long sessions for any child who is three years and older. Slots are available to 13 children per session. Unity School provides transportation to and from the pool.
Every summer, our school-aged Otter class has an away-from-home camping experience at Clark Creek Campground! Three days and two nights camping with Unity friends and teachers, hiking, swimming in Fall Creek and learning camp songs. It is the highlight of the summer!
